At SuperPenguin, we create digital support for people with speech, language and communication needs. Our team brings together researchers, software engineers, speech and language therapists and designers. Many have personal experience of speech therapy, including our founder and CEO, Jordi Fernandez.

Jordi’s experience of stammering and speech therapy drives our mission. His struggles and achievements shaped a philosophy of acceptance and advocacy, with an understanding that everyone’s needs are different. In therapy, he developed habits that improved his quality of life, but maintaining progress on his own was challenging. That experience inspired him to bring together a team to make support more accessible beyond appointments.

Since 2021, we have drawn on these experiences and insights to develop support for families and clinicians. SuperPenguin brings practical guidance into daily life, helping families find information and activities relevant to their needs.

Our work has been supported through competitive grant programmes, including Innovate UK and NIHR, and by angel investors, some of whom also stammer. After launching BeneTalk for adults who stammer, we turned our attention to parents and caregivers of children who stammer. That work led to SuperPenguin and its wider support for families.

We want support to be available while families wait, alongside appointments and at home. Working with families and clinical services, we aim to help people navigate speech, language and communication needs with confidence, practical information and support that fits everyday life.
