A Rebuilt Onboarding Experience

From the ground up, we’ve redesigned how users join SuperPenguin. The new onboarding process is smoother, faster, and requires fewer steps. For families, this means less time spent filling in forms and more time engaging with the support that matters. For clinicians and organisations, it means sharing SuperPenguin is no longer a complex process.

Two Flexible Ways to Share SuperPenguin

In this release, we’ve added two different ways to share access, giving organisations the choice of what works best in their context.

1. Direct Invitations through the Web Dashboard

Organisations using SuperPenguin can now invite individuals directly from the SuperPenguin web dashboard. All it takes is adding a new client, entering their phone number, and selecting the relevant speech and language need. From there, everything else is automated. The user will receive an invitation by text, and once they enter their phone number in the app, SuperPenguin instantly recognises their organisation, their speech need, and any additional information that was provided, all via their phone number. This drastically reduces the manual work involved for both clinicians and families.

2. Activation Codes for Wider Access

Sometimes organisations want to share SuperPenguin on a larger scale without sending out individual invitations. To make this possible, each trust now has its own activation codes. These codes can be included in automated letters, flyers, posters, or other communications. When a user downloads the app and enters the activation code, SuperPenguin immediately knows which organisation they’re connected to and which speech and language need is relevant. This makes scaling access simple, flexible, and effective.

Why This Matters

SuperPenguin is designed to empower families and reduce the strain on NHS speech and language services. But to do that well, access needs to be straightforward. With version 1.17, we’ve made it easier for clinicians to connect families to the support they need, whether one-to-one or at scale. This ensures users experience a seamless, personalised start from day one.

This release is an important step towards our goal of making SuperPenguin as accessible as possible, so no family faces unnecessary delays in getting started.
