Scope of Accessibility

This accessibility statement applies to the SuperPenguin mobile application and associated digital resources (e.g., web portals, instructional materials). We aim to meet or exceed accessibility standards for:

  • Caregivers supporting children with stammers.
  • Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) professionals using the app for therapy guidance.
  • Users with a range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments.

To ensure a seamless user experience, SuperPenguin incorporates the following accessibility features:

A) Visual Accessibility:

B) Auditory Accessibility:

  • Full functionality via external input devices (e.g., keyboards).

D) Cognitive Accessibility:

  • Clear, simple instructions and consistent navigation paths.
  • Avoidance of flashing content to minimise risks for individuals with photosensitivity.

E) Language Accessibility:

  • Content written in plain English.
  • Support for alternative languages or translation tools where feasible.

Accessibility Testing

SuperPenguin undergoes regular accessibility evaluations as part of our usability engineering process:

  • Formative and summative usability testing with users representing diverse abilities.
  • Automated and manual testing for WCAG 2.1 compliance.
  • Feedback sessions with caregivers and SLT professionals to identify and address accessibility challenges.

Limitations and Areas For Improvement

We recognise that some aspects of accessibility may require ongoing work. Current known limitations include:

  • Limited language support for non-English speakers (currently in development).
  • Full testing compatibility with all assistive technologies (ongoing evaluation).
