Penguin was created to give families practical tools and reassurance while waiting for speech therapy, and it has reached further than we could have imagined.
The app was adopted by 48 NHS trusts across the UK, downloaded over 3,500 times in 88 countries, and used to support families at some of their most challenging moments.

Most importantly, it delivered impact where it mattered most. Research showed that 71% of parents felt more hopeful about their child’s future, 62% felt less concerned about stammering, and 61% felt less worried overall. Those numbers represent lives changed with parents feeling reassured, and children supported.
Building on those foundations, we are now taking the next step forward with SuperPenguin, an enhanced platform supported by £1.5 million in NIHR funding. SuperPenguin introduces personalised content, continual support for families, family sharing features, and simple check-ins to track progress. These new capabilities allow us to deliver support that adapts to each family’s needs while creating a clearer picture of progress over time.
Although we’re saying goodbye to Penguin, its spirit and achievements live on in SuperPenguin.
What started as a pilot has grown into a platform designed to transform how families experience support for stammering, ensuring that care is more personalised, accessible, and sustainable.
We are grateful to every family, clinician, and partner who supported Penguin and helped us learn what works. Your trust and feedback have shaped SuperPenguin into what it is today.
This is just the beginning and we’re excited to continue this journey with you. To keep up to date on the latest developments with SuperPenguin, subscribe to our newsletter or get in touch to be a part of the mission.
